Anti-Jetlag Remedies
![]()
Jetlag is one of the most inconvenient aspects of long-haul flights that all international business travellers experience. You yawn in the middle of a meeting with your important customer, but back at the hotel, you can’t fall asleep or, even worse, you wake up in the middle of the night and can’t get back to sleep.
The number of products and remedies on the market is amazing. Pills, sprays, accupuncture, special LED glasses, facial masks, special diets…
Ways to minimize the effects of jetlag include:
- Get lots of sunlight when you arrive at your destination
- Eat protein-rich foods in the morning and carbo-rich foods in the evening
- Exercise
- Start adjust your sleeping patterns before the trip
- Adjust your watch before as soon as you get on the plane
Personally, I use Melatonin, but usually only when I fly East. Flying West is easier in general and I usually cope pretty well with that. Other people I know like to take Tylonol PM - pain killer which makes you drowsy.
What do you do to cope with jetlag?

As someone who deals with time zones nearly every day, I’ve developed a number of helpful habits. The primary one is to “be” on the time where it is, and stop saying, well it’s 5 here, but really only 3.
