Can Budweiser Go Global?

by Jean Mercedes on June 26th, 2008

InBev, one of the largest beer brewing companies in the world, is looking to take over Anheuser-Busch. (Refer to my previous post.) This acquisition is not just about market share or volume growth - InBev really wants to turn Budweiser Beer into a global brand.

Have they had a Bud lately?

InBev recently tried to take the Brazilian Brahma beer brand into new markets and failed. Why do they think world markets would be more receptive to a tasteless American brew?

Supposedly, Asian tastes prefer light beers like Bud (critics might call it thin and  watery) but analysts give the brew little chance to succeed in Europe.

InBev - take my advice, and do the world a favor: Leave Bud to the Americans.
