Not really. Lewis Black has some harsh things to say about the state of American economy (and Budweiser, not the sale, the beer) in this bit from the Daily Show.

The euro is high, the US dollar is low. So what is else is new?
Earning euros and spending dollars is great right now - everything you buy in the US has a built-in discount of 30 to 40 percent. Earning dollars these days is not such a great thing.
And that is the challenge for multi-national […]

Nepotism ist defined as “the showing of favoritism toward relatives and friends, based upon that relationship, rather than on an objective evaluation of ability” (Wiki).
Family businesses, per definition, are kept in the family, meaning the ownership is passed from one generation to the next. Especially for small and medium-sized companies, “ownership” also goes hand in […]

As Chris noted yesterday, Anheuser-Busch has accepted a takeover bid from InBev, a Belgium-Brazilian brewing conglomerate. The new company will be called “Anheuser-Busch InBev” and August Busch IV will have a seat on the board of directors.
A lot of people were against the take-over. “Loss of an American icon”, “Bud is now Belgium”, “Foreign Owners”.

The deed is all but done, Budweiser is now Belgian, at least when it’s not Czech. I guess in international business - as in all business - it’s money which does the talking in the end.

Obviously, one of the biggest disincentives to travelling to the US is the whole border experience, even for citizens. It’s even more complicated for many of those who […]

Starbucks may be cutting back here in the US, but they’ve decided growth overseas may well be the answer. Unfortunately, profits overseas haven’t looked as good, but growth is king, right?

I hate to fly at the best of times and, since September 11, 2001, I have absolutely loathed it due to the many inconsistent and seemingly useless security safeguards which have been introduced. In between taking off shoes, taking out laptops, and putting liquids into a baggie for no discernible reason, I fly only when […]

Ok, now these fuel prices are really getting on my nerves. According to this article, the price of beer is increasing in Germany now too. I’ve already seen a 30% increase in the price of a case of beer here, I don’t really need higher prices combined with the current exchange rate for my next […]
