Moleskine Notebooks

In a previous blog, Chris took the risk of being called a technophobe (he really is not) by outing himself as a user of a paper-based organizer. I also have not been able to give up paper 100% - while my calendar and address book are electronic, I still use a paper notebook for meeting notes and reminders.
This year, I started using the famous notebooks from Moleskine. These lovely notebooks have a rigid, oilcloth-bound cover, use acid-free paper and come in two sizes and many variations. They cost around $20, depending on size, but are often on sale at Amazon for less. This is not a 95 cent notebook used for scribbling and then thrown away. It is the only notebook I know of with a Wikipedia entry.
The Italian company who makes them just came out with “city notebooks” which I think are a great idea. Now available for 22 different cities, including Paris, Venice, New York, LA, and Chicago, each city notebook includes blank pages, tabbed pages, city maps, metro maps, and even translucent sticky pages to lay over the maps to trace your route. The idea is to record and store your travel data in this notebook and to bring it along every time you go to that particular city. What was the name of the hotel I stayed at? Where was that nice restaurant again? How do I get from the hotel to the office? This information and more can be stored in the city notebook.

1 opinion for Moleskine Notebooks

I’ve looked at these before and they are very nice, and it was one of the options I considered when trying to ditch my Franklin altogether. I ultimately stuck with the Franklin because I knew I could keep other important cards and documents in the pockets, and I could hole-punch documents which I wanted to bring with me. That said, if you’ve truly made the rest of your life electronic, these look like great little notebooks.
